New Products + Kate Edwards

Here's the first wave of some new photos and new products, all thanks to the amazing Kate Edwards. You might recognize her work, and our gorgeous friend & model Gabby, from Young Frankk jewelry -- Kate shot the latest lookbook, and Gabby's modeled for it all. I only have these handful of things up now because I'm about to close my shop while I'm in California for 3 weeks, but much more will be up in early January, including lots of new dresses.

Leah, Rachael & Julia

Have you guys been following my #ladiesdrawingnight posts on instagram? Well, after getting together with Rachael Cole and Julia Rothman to draw once a week for the past few months, we made some things with our drawings and launched Leah, Rachael & Julia. The things are these scarves, and I love them. They're made from my favorite gauzy & sheer silk chiffon, but unlike any of my other scarves they are huge -- each scarf above is 36" x 89". Take a look at (and buy!) all 6 scarves here, and keep an eye out for new Leah, Rachael & Julia products soon.

Gina & Leah Quilt

I posted these patterns a while ago in anticipation of this project I did with my neighbor/friend Gina. At the time I said we weren't going to make a quilt, but then when it came down to it that's what we ended up making. She did most of the making, really, because in real life I'm a reluctant seamstress and she's the expert quilter here. I did the patterns though!

Dylan took these beautiful photos and I'm so happy with how everything came out. We're planning on making some patchwork pillows together, likely this summer, so stay tuned if you're looking for something that's not quite as big an investment. The quilt's for sale in my Etsy here, along with some extra photos.

FANGIRL

One of my internet BFFs, Tricia, is putting on a holiday pop-up shop with her real life BFF Carly and asked me to contribute something to sell there. Their shop is aptly named Fangirl, and will take place next month (I think) in Austin, TX and also online. For now, they've launched a great blog with all sorts of pictures and writing on the things they're fangirling over.

I painted this sunflower bouquet for the tote, because what else besides flowers really, and Tricia screen printed all of them by hand. I love how they turned out, and I'm so impressed with her printing skills. I don't like screen printing, so I'm extra pleased.

cake!

The coolest thing happened - someone painted a cake inspired by one of my patterns!

and, my original for reference:

More photos on Abby Galloway's blog here. I really wish I could bake with her! It reminds me a lot of the cookies that Rachel decorated with her friend Julia of AzĂșcar Pastel. So fun to put drawings in places I never thought I could put them.

cat o'lantern

I haven't done anything for Halloween since high school, but I still like the idea of it. Every year I like to think of the costume that I would never wear: this year is a sphynx cat (would have to wear all peach and somehow be wrinkly), last year was an Egyptian pyramid (would make a stiff tent dress painted with bricks and a little triangle hat on top). Someday I will just be the old person that stays home and passes out candy.

little drawings

A couple little drawings I pulled out of my sketchbook. I liked the swimmers so much I made a bigger more final piece out of them.

Rag Dolls

I always, always want to make dolls, and since I hadn't done so in a few years I spent the past couple months making these. They have really long skinny arms and legs and the usual sad girl pout, so I've been calling them bored model dolls, sulking around my studio in a pack. All 5 are for sale in my shop here.

**black cat signature iphone case**

I was desperately hoping for like 2 years that everyone would forget about the black cat pattern, because I do a ton of other things and everyone always wants to talk about the cats, but now I'm just embracing it as my thing. If I ever accidentally become a real fashion designer, there will probably be one thing every season with this print.

I set up a little shop on Society6 primarily to sell iPhone cases and immediately ordered this one for myself. And it's great! It's a lot thinner and sleeker than my old case, and the print quality is really nice. I've listed a dozen different patterns in the Society6 shop, and if you see pattern you want as a case that isn't there now, just let me know and I can put it up!

Girls putting on makeup

A couple details from an involved pattern I've been working on for a few days. I'm planning on doing more repeats of "girls doing stuff" since I really like how this and the Badminton one turned out.

blueberries / summer dreams

A few blueberry-related drawings I did over the summer. The top one is me as an Indian girl picking blueberries in Bar Harbor, Maine. That dream didn't happen this summer, and I baked a lot of blueberry bran/flax muffins with all our CSA blueberries instead. I can't guarantee that this recipe will work for you because I mostly made it up, but it made the best muffins ever every time I used it.
