#streetstyle

I drew a big street crowd for a recent job, and haven't been able to quit my #streetstyle search on tumblr. It's like 70% Kardashian/Jenner which is upsetting, but it's really relaxing to pick out favorites and elaborate on their outfits.

what i wore to the studio

Monica, Rachel, and I started a new blog of the most mundane fashion, what we wear to the studio. Follow along as I wear the same sweater 5 days in a row.

I went to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum a couple weeks ago and drew these favorites from photos I took. I get so bored looking at fashion online, but it's exciting to see it in a museum and in a historical context. This show was so well done, and the shapes of his work are so inventive I imagined everything I looked at like it was already a drawing.

new stuff!

Here's a peek at some new products and patterns that are coming to the shop next month. It was so much fun taking these photos with some great girls recently. And really could Gillian and Gaby be more beautiful?! Ugh.

Everything shown above (and a zillion other things) will be with me at Renegade Craft Fair this month (details a few posts down or here if you missed it).

summertime, almost.

It's raining a lot so I'm drawing summer things and thinking about my California trip in July. Sidenote- I think I've given up on my tumblr, and I'm planning on updating this blog more. I really wanted to post daily drawings...and that lasted for a few weeks...and now I feel like I haven't made anything in 2 months. But I have! So more posts soon.

You may have seen my holiday season picks, and now here's what's hot for Spring (...in my life). Best viewed large, since the actual image is 20 x 20".

Rag Dolls

I always, always want to make dolls, and since I hadn't done so in a few years I spent the past couple months making these. They have really long skinny arms and legs and the usual sad girl pout, so I've been calling them bored model dolls, sulking around my studio in a pack. All 5 are for sale in my shop here.

Fashion's Night Out at Dalaga NYC

When Liz asked me if I'd like to host the Fashion's Night Out party & craft night at Dalaga in Greenpoint I immediately said yes, but I really don't know what I'm getting myself into! I've never hosted an event, never done anything fashion week related, never seen my clothes in a store in front of a ton of people...ha. So come by and say hi that night if you're in the area! And if you can't make it, or just want to see my clothes IRL, the pop-up shop will be there through September 16.

I finished up these posters last night for both the Greenpoint and Soho stores. It was a lot of fun drawing a bunch of different designers, and interesting to re-draw some of my own patterns.

My collection for Anthropologie came out last week and this Griegii Mini Dress has quickly become my favorite. The samples I was sent are a size 6 and most of them pretty much swallow me alive, but this shift dress (also in the bears print) looks great oversized and cuffed. I'm so happy with how everything turned out, and also impressed with the quality. Reading "polyester lining" always makes me wrinkle my nose, but the lining on these is actually very soft and slinky, and super nice for a synthetic. So, take a look at my pieces and the rest of the Made in Kind lines here!

LOL

Here I am in a Japanese magazine called SOUP! I'm wearing something I would never wear in real life and standing in front of the messiest part of my house, that for some reason I was told to stand in front of. But! It's pretty cool.

Chiffon

These two scarves are now restocked in the shop, this time in beautiful, semi-sheer chiffon. Pretty much my favorite fabric of the moment, even the polyester version they have at American Apparel. I picked up this full length skirt, black with tiny creme polka dots, in Miami last week and I've been wearing it ever since.

Dylan and I are headed to Miami in the morning for the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. I can't wait to jump in the chlorine-colored ocean tomorrow morning, after I recover from the 7 am flight. I'm going to be doing live illustration of my South Beach adventure for Evian who is a sponsor of the event, and Dylan will be tweeting the drawings @evianwater. It's pretty much the coolest job to get to draw and eat a bunch of food on the beach for a long weekend. So follow us on twitter if you'd like, should be fun!

for a pretty girl

I haven't made anything new in so long. I've spent the past few months plodding through my senior thesis, making and mailing dozens and dozens of Etsy orders, spending well-deserved time with Netflix, slowly assembling life in this apartment, sending frantic emails to the scarf manufacturers, stressing and crying and finally shipping off an important order to an important store. . . any anyway, I forgot to draw and make new nice things along the way. I drew these vintage dresses a while ago and colored them dresses last night with my new Bamboo Wacom tablet I got for Christmas. I didn't think I'd ever say this, but the tablet, like, *gets me*. I love it. Dylan and I are now staying up late working on concepts for our first real job together, so I'm drawing again and it's fun. Plus, the client's brand color is this amazing PINK, so I'm feelin it. xx
